Elizabeth
R and Company is Dare
County's singular resident theatrical company. The Manteo based 501(c)3
non-profit organization showcases stage, video
and audio productions centered on periods in history. The company also
promotes research, symposia, seminars,
and theatrical interpretations of history.
The musical
drama, The
Colony That Was Lost, is an original production created and
produced by the company specifically for and with
elementary school students.
Elizabeth
R and Company's main
production
is the international hit one-woman show Elizabeth R. Since
1993, Elizabeth R
has been performed to rave reviews at the
Pioneer Theatre in Manteo;
The Elizabethan Gardens; on tour
in England; Scotland's Edinburgh Festival;
Youghal, Ireland; the Players Club Theatre in New York City
and at 30 locations throughout
the mid-Atlantic states.
Elizabeth
R & Company also
produces Bloody Mary and the Virgin Queen,
a riotous musical comedy that plays
each summer in Manteo; and Shepherd
of the Ocean, the story of Sir Walter Raleigh and Queen
Elizabeth.
